Autumn Meets Paris
at The Unique Bird
My new listings feel a little more moody and sentimental than my last few brightly colored offerings. "Autumn Meets Paris", offers some cottage chic neutrals paired with some tints of soft and greyed out colors, not to mention an interesting mix of textures and materials. These vintage pieces span many eras from Victorian to some mid century modern.
The real story, though, is all about a country girl that went to Paris for a summer holiday. She not only fell in love with the City of Lights but she also met a boy. Sadly summer ended and she had to return home to the country side, but has lovingly held onto a few souvenirs from her days in Paris.
This was the inspiration piece for the whole collection. Somehow, this lovely sheet of antique uncut postcards from Paris was all I needed to inspire a sappy love story in my mind.
I combined the newly framed sheet of antique postcards with a few shabby chic vintage pieces.
Combining textures, materials and eras.
"Rainy Days and Mondays", mid-century drip glaze art pottery dish is seen layered with, "Flock Together", a vintage metal vase with delightful applied metal bird detail.
Who says you need to fill vases with flowers? Why not fill it with some colorful foliage?
Urn Some Green, mid century drip glaze art pottery vase.
Fine line drawn images on these pieces of vintage china are detailed with tints of color.
Layered with the decorated china is a more sleek looking but still delicately detailed "Scale-Upped" vintage metal tray, that is the perfect size for serving a champagne cocktail. You can say ,"Here's To Us" when using these vintage champagne goblets.
Pouring in a few more pieces of modern looking textured glass with these two vintage decanters, "Bottoms Up" and "A Votre Sante".
Since you know how much I love to accessorize my home decor with accessories, I layered some Unique vintage cuff bracelets on one of the glass decanters.
"What's in a Name" vintage metal ID cuff bracelet and "Quarter For Your Thoughts" vintage metal cuff bracelet (guess why I picked that name?).
These bracelets even look pretty great when displayed in a more traditional way...on your wrist.
Just another souvenir from her holiday in Paris.
The softer side of sentimental...upcycled handmade decorative throw pillows.
"Fuzzy Feeling" upcycled from a beautiful vintage soft colored wool thread embroidered linen table runner.
This masculine menswear fabric quilt had a beautiful floral feminine fabric for its backing that I maintained on the back of this decorative pillow.
Take a sentimental journey when "Autumn Meets Paris", in The Unique Bird's etsy shop!
